First Sunrise of 2020 viewing | GYODA

January 1, 2020 @ 06:00 - 09:00

First sunrise Gyoda

First Sunrise Gyoda– There is a beautiful Japanese New Year’s tradition of watching the first sunrise of the new year. Next year the first sunrise will be even more important than normal and particularly poignant. because it will be the last “first sunrise” of a new year during the Heisei period.

Every year the observation tower at Kodai Hasu No Sato opens especially for the occasion. They will open on the morning of New Year’s Day so that people can view the first sunrise of 2020. The tower will be open from 6 am to 9 am, with last entry into the tower at 8.30 am. You can usually see the sun rising about 6.48 (weather permitting) on New Years day in Saitama. Tickets at Kodai Hasu No Sato will be distributed to the first 70 people. They will give a commemoration presentation to those fortunate enough to secure a ticket for this special occasion.
