Halloween Night in the Forest @ Shinrin Park | NAMEGAWA

October 5 @ 17:00 - November 3 @ 20:30

Entry fee plus parking

Halloween Shinrin Park – Each year from early October to early November, on the weekends and public holidays, you can enjoy Halloween night illumination in Shinrin Park.  The dates for 2019 have not yet been confirmed, but they should be officially released in the coming week (August 14th 2019). If you are coming to Kumagaya for the Rugby World Cup this event is close to the Kumagaya Rugby Stadium. Shinrin Park is in Namegawa, one town over from Kumagaya.

The CENTRAL GATE of the park opens later than usual for this special event. The entrance area of the central gate as well as the walk from the entrance to the botanical garden house and restaurant is lit up with Halloween decorations.

If you come in full Halloween dress-up / costume you will receive a sweet treat from staff. Two years ago was the first time they gave food as a reward for coming in costume. In previous years, we just got a badge for our efforts! The sweet in the last two years was a dish of ice-cream. It was a much better “sweet treat” than we had expected. The sweet treat is limited to the first 50 customers on any given night.

Halloween Shinrin Park

One of the 2017 installations

Each year they have a couple of installations on display for the whole period of night illumination. There are three in total: Halloween night illumination, Autumn Leave Illumination and Starlight Christmas illumination. More information here:

In previous years parking was free after 5pm in the central gate parking area only, but since two years ago they are charging ¥300 per car. The other car parks will close as normal.

Dates: October TBC and November TBC.
Time: 5 pm to 8.30 pm for the October dates, 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm for the November dates. Last entry to the park at 8 pm during both months.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: Shinrin Park will be free in on Sunday October 21st and again on November 3rd. Parking is charged though.
