Kitamoto Neputa Festival

November 2 @ 14:00 - November 3 @ 20:00

Kitamoto Neputa Festival

The Kitamoto Neputa Festival is held annually in early November. This year that will be on Saturday the 2nd of November. On the Sunday, the 3rd, there is an industry festival.

The Kitamoto Neputa festival is the biggest Neputa Festival in the Kanto area. Neputa comes from Hirosaki City in Aomori, not to be confused (easier said than done!) with the Nebuta festival. The Nebuta festival is also from Aomori prefecture, but Aomori City!

The festival in Kitamoto starts from around 2 pm with a parade of dancing and performances. From 3 pm there are stage performances around the station area. At 5 pm they have a drum performance dedicated to Kitamoto’s legendary cherry blossom tree; the only Kabazakura in the world.

The main part of the festival is after dark though, when you can see the large light installations with traditional Japanese depictions. It is also when the festival floats parade and combat.

The festival is held around the Kitamoto Station area.

On the 3rd there is an industrial festival from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm.
