Koshigaya Plum Blossom Festival

March 2, 2019 @ 10:00 March 6, 2019 @ 15:00

Koshigaya Plum Blossom – The 25th Annual Koshigaya Plum Forest Park Plum Blossom Festival will take place on March 2nd and 3rd from 10 am to 3 pm each day.

Koshigaya Plum Blossom Festival

Truthfully, I’d never heard of the plum blossom grove in Koshigaya until today. When I think of plum blossoms in Saitama Ogose, Shinrin Park and Omiya Dai Ni Park come to mind. Ogose Plum Forest holding the honour of one of Kanto’s “three great plum blossom groves”. However, it would seem that the Koshigaya Plum Blossom Park and festival are a contender to join the ranks of the bigger and better plum blossom locations in Saitama.

“Umebukuro” the plum blossom mascot

The park and its “ume”, the Japanese for plum blossoms, gets rave reviews online. And the planned festival this weekend looks like a lot of fun. They have music and dance performances scheduled on both days and the plum blossom mascot will be there for the occasion. You can picnic under the plum blossoms. And it would seem this festival attracts people from both near and far.

The plum blossom festival is held in Koshigaya’s Plum Forest park. It is about a 20 minute walk from Tobu Skytree Line Kita Koshigaya Station’s west exit. For the two days of the festival there is a free shuttle bus from that station and from Aeon Sengendai Branch too.

There is a car park at the park, but it will not be in available to the public over the duration of the festival.
