Mushi Mushi Museum Shinrin Park | NAMEGAWA
July 13 @ 09:30 - September 1 @ 17:00Free
Mushi Mushi Museum – Every summer Shinrin Park have a small beetle museum in the West Gate Building. It has actually grown over the years, but considering it started out with just a handful of beetle display cases, that’s not saying much. Initially it was just perserved pinned beetles in display cases, but now they create a fake woodland scene.
Fake beetles can be seen on tree trumps and positioned as if they were climbing trees. They still have some entomology display cases too with beetles classified and named. This year they have more than beetles with other insects displayed too.
During the period of the beetle and insect museum they will hold some other events too. For example, from the opening day until Sunday August 18th they have some live beetles that children can interact with. The museum is free, but this event costs 100 yen per person over three years old.
Another example is a beetle lecture and exploration class on August 4th from 10 am and again from 1.30 pm for two hours. It costs 500 yen per child. Only children of school going age can participate. This can be booked in advanced from July 25th. The phone number to ring is: 0493-57-2111.
