Night Zoo at the Saitama Children’s zoo
August 10 @ 09:30 - August 18 @ 21:00￥510
Saitama Children’s Night Zoo 2019
Every year around Obon the Saitama Children’s Zoo in Takasaka (Higashimatsuyama) runs a popular night zoo event. This year, 2019, the dates are Saturday August 10th to Thursday August 15th, Saturday the 17th and Sunday 18th.
In previous years the zoo actually closed at its usual time and then opened again at 7 pm. But this year it looks like the zoo will just remain open until the extended closing time of the night zoo of 9 pm.
They usually run special events in conjunction with the rare night time opening of Saitama’s best zoo for kids. And they usually have an opening event on the first night. They have yet to release the specifics for 2019 on the official website.
Entrance into the zoo costs 510 yen for adults and 210 yen for children of school going age. Children under six and anyone with an official disability handbook can enter for free.
Night Zoo Access
The zoo is a short bus ride from Tobu Tojo line Takasaka station’s west exit on a bus bound for “Hatoyama New Town”.
By car the nerest interchange is Higashimatsuyama Interchange on the Kanetsu expressway. It is about five kilometres to the zoo from this exit. Map at the bottom of the post in the grey details box. Parking in the official car park costs 600 yen for the day. On weekends and sometimes during summer holidays there is private parking near the side entrance for 500 yen per day.
