Ogawa Tanabata Festival and Fireworks | OGAWA
July 27 @ 11:00 - July 28 @ 21:30Free
Ogawa Tanabata festival is a two day tanabata “star festival” celebration held annually, usually on the last weekend of July. The fireworks happen on the first night. This is the 71st occurrence of the festival.
This year the festival will be held on Saturday July 27th and Sunday July 28th.
The area around Ogawamachi station is decorated with thousands of paper streamers on bamboo as per the usual tanabata decoration. There is music and dance as well as festival stalls throughout the two days of the festival.
Ogawa Tanabata Festival Fireworks
Approximately 1800 fireworks will be launched between 19.15 and 20.30. If the weather is unsuitable on the 25th, the event will take place on the 26th instead. There are 150 stalls at the event that attracts about 200,000 visitors. Queries to the festival committee at 0493-72-0280.
These are the fifth of thirty plus firework displays held annually in Saitama each year. You will find the other thirty odd firework displays, and other festival and summer events in Saitama, detailed on the Saitama With Kids main events calendar (click here).
