Waku Waku Park Festival at Saitama Aquarium | HANYU
June 2 @ 09:30 - 15:30Free
Saitama Aquarium is one of the few freshwater aquariums in Japan. The Spring festival “Waku Waku Park” is held in Saitama Aquarium on the first weekend of June annually. It used to be a two day event, but from 2019 it is a one day event. The fair is on Sunday the 2nd of June from 9.30 am to 3.30 4 pm.
There have been quite a few changes with the shortening of the festival. It looks like they won’t have the free tours of the aquarium this year and that the mini steam locomotive won’t be there. But there is still a really good and engaging line up for kids.
One of the highlights of this festival for children is the 25 meter long goldfish scoop. They will also no doubt enjoy the petting corner where they can hold small animals. There are emergency vehicles on site for the day that kids can investigate. They have unusual bikes and push along rides for kids to play on. There are several stage performances with music and dance.
The festival is held in both the aquarium and the park. There is a charge into the aquarium, but the area in the park is free.
Saitama Aquarium Access
Saitama Aquarium is located in Hanyu.
By Car: Take the Hanyu Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. The aquarium is about 3 km heading towards Kurihashi.
By Train: The aquarium is a little far from a train line and there isn’t a frequent bus on the weekends. On weekdays you can get the town bus. By taxi it is about 7 kilometers / 15 minutes from either Hanyu or Kazo Station on the Tobu Isesaki Line.
