Experience Japanese culture at Saitama Wabi Sabi Festival at Omiya Park

Saitama Wabi Sabi Festival – Wabi Sabi is a 2 day cultural festival held in Omiya park. The 2019 dates are October 13th and 14th.
The event is on from 10 am to 7.30 pm on the Sunday and from 10 am to 4 pm on bank holiday Monday.
The event is scheduled to go ahead “rain or shine”, but there may be some changes to the schedule in the event of heavy rain.
The two day festival has a great line up. Entrance to the park and the live performances are free, but some of the workshops cost money to participate in. Some of them also require that you book in advance.

Saitama Wabi Sabi Festival Highlights include
- Performances of traditional music including Taiko and Shamisen
- Traditional Japanese performances such as shishimae and dezome
- Famous festival floats on display (from Kawagoe festival)
- Ogano Kabuki
- Bonsai workshop with Masashi Hirao
- Ikebana class
- Dress up as samurai
Saitama Wabi Sabi Festival Access
Omiya Park is near Omiya Station. They expect around 30,000 people to participate in the festival over the two days. As a result, they discourage parking on the days of this festival. However, they are running a free shuttle buses. The bus goes in a loop from Omiya station to Omiya Park to the Bonsai Museum.
The bus schedule:
The bus starts from 9.30 at Omiya station east exit rotary and does the loop every half hour. From Omiya Park the loop starts at 10 am and then every half hour.
