The 100 caves of Yoshimi 2019 cherry blossom festival is from March 23rd until April 14th. During this time period the sakura trees are lit up at night between 5 and 9 pm. There is also a stamp rally during that period.

There is one main event day on April 6th:

100 Caves of Yoshimi Cherry Blossom Festival Event day

The main Cherry Blossom Festival event day of 2019 is on Saturday April 6th from 10 am.

100 caves of yoshimi cherry blossom festival

It is a small local festival at the historic 100 caves of Yoshimi. We visited this festival in 2017, but due to the rain and the uncooperative cherry blossoms it turned out to be a bit of a non event. It was two week earliers that year.  The featured photo shows the sakura in almost full bloom, but it was the only tree that far along on that day.

Cherry blossom on moss – this area is famous for its luminous moss

I have visited the area in previous years when the sakura have been in full bloom and it is truly beautiful. The festival is held in the large car park for the 100 caves which is beside the river. Dozens of sakura line the river and it is so picturesque when they are in bloom.

The festival usually entails Taiko drum performances, festival stalls and craft corner. The 100 Caves normally cost 300 yen to enter, but for the cherry blossom festival it is free in.  Please see the grey box for times and map.
