Spring Festival at the 100 Caves of Yoshimi | YOSHIMI

April 7, 2018 @ 10:00 - 20:00

100 caves of yoshimi cherry blossom festival
100 Caves of Yoshimi Cherry Blossom Festival 100 caves of yoshimi cherry blossom festival The 100 Caves of Yoshimi Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 will be held on Saturday April 7th from 10 am. There is also sakura light up scheduled for that night until 9 pm. Please note that there maybe some changes to this event as the cherry blossoms peaked early this year and it is highly likely they will be past full bloom by the time the event comes around. It is a small local festival at the historic 100 caves of Yoshimi. We visited last year (2017), but due to the rain and the uncooperative cherry blossoms it turned out to be a bit of a non event. It was a week earlier last year, held on April 1st.  The featured photo shows the sakura in almost full bloom, but it was the only tree that far along on that day. I have visited the area (not this festival) in previous years when the sakura have been in full bloom and it is truly beautiful. The festival is held in the large car park for the 100 caves which is beside the river. Dozens of sakura line the river and it is so picturesque when they are in bloom. In 2017 the cherry blossoms started to open early, but then due to bad weather took a turn for the worse and didn’t come into full bloom until much later than expected. Taiko drums, festival stalls and craft corner. The 100 Caves normally cost 300 yen to enter, but for the cherry blossom festival it is free in.  Please see the grey box for times and map.
