Urawa Mikoshi Festival on July 22nd

One of two of Urawa’s festivals on July 22nd, the Sunday of a long bank holiday weekend. It is also one of many festivals that happens along the Nakasendo trail, an historic route that linked Kyoto to Edo. The other festival is the Yosakoi festival at Minami Urawa Station
A “mikoshi” is a portable shrine, carried by many people who have trained for many weeks to carry it in tandem. This festival also has a children’s mikoshi. The mikoshi procession starts at 14.30 near Urawa station.

Access Urawa Mikoshi Festival
The festival is carried out on the Nakasendo trail, in and around Tsuki Shrine. The nearest station is JR Urawa station. Its about a 5 minute walk from the west exit of the station.
