Yuruchara (Mascot) Summit | HANYU
November 23 @ 09:00 - November 24 @ 15:30
Yuruchara 2019 – Kanto’s largest character and mascot summit with a Guinness World Record certificate to prove it! The beloved annual event in Hanyu has been scheduled for November Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th in 2019.
Awaiting updated photos for 2019. This one is for 2018:
An ONLY IN JAPAN event! Up to 400 Mascots from cities and towns and even products parade down the runway on the grounds of Saitama Aquarium at this popular annual event in Hanyu.
Funassyi, one of Japan’s most loved mascots, usually attends the festival. How many of Saitama’s mascots will participate? It remains to be seen. Currently (July 8th 2019) they are recruiting mascots for the 2019 festival. In 2017 this was the full line up of Japanese mascots who participated:
Over the years they have even had mascots participating from different countries around the world including Germany, Taiwan and America. In 2017 over 40 mascots from overseas attended this Guinness World Record Holding event. The biggest number of participants from overseas they had to date. Will there be even more this year!? So far they have mentioned America and Israel for 2019.
The festival attracts around 270,000 visitors. They come for the mascots and also the food or gourmet as they call it.
