Just 40 minutes from Tokyo you can enjoy indoor skiing and snowboarding.
The Sayama Ski Resort, a Prince Snow Resort and part of the Seibu Group, opens their 2015/16 season this Friday, October 23rd. 2016/7 season on October 29th from 10 am. Initially, the resort is only open on the 29th and 30th and will open full time from November 13th. It is an artificial snow resort, best suited to beginners and intermediate level skiers and snowboarders. They don’t have any special play attractions for children. They are offering a discount to people with 雪 or 神 in their name for the pre-opening event in October.
Hours: Hours: 10 am to 6 pm on October 29th and 30th. The facility is closed from October 31st until November 13th. The season will kick off properly from November 13th.
From the 13th the facility is open from 10 am to 9 pm on weekdays and open from 10 am to 9 pm and then again from 10 pm until 6 am for night skiing on weekends.

10 KM from Iruma Interchange on the Ken-O expressway following route 463 on to route 55. Parking is charged.
On the 17th of October there is a Halloween Festival and Gourmet Fair being held in the Saitama Super Arena from 10am to 9pm.
There are special events including a fancy dress competition. You need to be in full costume to enter the competition, just make up and/or a witches hat will not suffice. Registration is on the day, between 11am and 1pm.
The performances include many dance performances in the morning. The costume contest and cosplay show happens mid afternoon from about 3pm. That is followed by some more performances and music.
There is food and service booths as well as a designated kids space.
Saitama Super Arena is a 2 minute walk from JR Saitama shintoshin Station, about a 7 minute walk from JR Kitayono Station and there is parking available. The car park costs 400 円 for the first hour and 200 円 for every subsequent hour.

A new Halloween event in Ageo. The Ageo mascots Ari-kun and Rio-chan will dress up in costume and put on an Halloween performance. Come in fancy dress and parade with them. There are three parades on the day; midday, 2pm and 4pm. Ario events tend to draw crowds, so arrive early to avoid disappoint. The gathering point is at the outdoor event stage, out the side of the Homac Store. There will be spot giveaways of sweets to 20 lucky participants.
On the 10th of October, Yono will celebrate the Taishou Period festival for the 24th year in a row. This free event, at the West side of Yono station, runs from 10am to 8pm.
The Taishou period was between 1912 and 1926. Participants of this time slip festival dress up in period costumes and parade down the street in front of the West side of the station. There are about 100 stalls/booths selling festival food, drink and games.
