The Halloween events in Kitamachi, Saitama City, have grown in strength and numbers over the years. When I first wrote this post back in 2016 most of the Halloween events were in Stellar Town. But over the last few years the celebration has expanded and other locations now also participate. Here is the round up of the Halloween events in Kitamachi in 2023:
Halloween Kitamachi Saitama City 2023
The Kitamachi, Saitama City, Halloween will be celebrated on the weekend before Halloween, Saturday October 28th and Sunday October 29th 2023.
Kids Costume Parade
There are three costume parades on the Saturday (28th). They are at 11 am, 1 pm and 2.30 pm. Each time 70 children, who are in costume, can participate. They get a candy for participating. You need to pick up a participation ticket which are distributed from 10 am. The parades are on in Stellar Town.
Kitamachi Halloween Show
After the parades on the 28th the Saitama University Acapella group will perform at Stellar Town. On Sunday the 29th there is a dance party, also in Stellar Town, between 12.30 and 4.30 pm. Towards the end they have a section that everyone can participate in.
Halloween lantern workshop
On Sunday the 29th, children who are in Halloween costume can participate in a Halloween lantern workshop. This is a free event, but it is limited to the first 100 people in line. It is on in Kitamachi Shimashima park.
A professional Halloween Photograph
On both the Saturday and Sunday there will be a professional photographer in Kitamachi Shimashima park, to take photos of children and / or families in costume. You need to book it in advance. You can see the time slots here and apply for a spot here.
Halloween games and face painting
Between 11 am and 4 pm on both the 28th and 29th, children can get their face painted by students of Omiya College of Beauty and Bridal. There will also be Halloween games at the face painting booths, which are the vicinity of Stellar Town and Kitamachi Shimashima Park.
Halloween Rally and Lottery
On both Saturday and Sunday you can participate in an Halloween rally around Ito Yokado. Find the candy wo/men and get a sweet in exchange for uttering the magic Halloween words ‘trick or treat’. When you reach the goal there is a chance to win a bigger prize by completing a questionnaire and entering a lottery.

Access Stellar Town
By Public Transport: You can get a free shuttle bus from JR Utsunomiya Line’s Toro Station. It takes about 5 minutes. There are up to 3 buses an hour during business hours. On foot it takes about 12 minutes from Toro station. It is about 7 minutes walk from Kamonomiya station on the New Shuttle Line. You can get public JR buses from Omiya Station’s east exit and Ageo Station’s east exit to Stellar Town. By Car: Stellar Town is on route 164. There is parking for 2,300 cars.
