As a special event this summer, Maruhiro Department Store in Kawagoe have an aquarium!

Pop Up Aquarium Kawagoe

Each summer Maruhiro Department store has a child friendly event. In 2023 it is a pop up aquarium. It started on Thursday July 27th and will run until Monday August 14th. The entry fee for children is 600 yen and 900 yen for adults. If you pick up a flyer or are a member of the Maruhiro App you can get a 100 yen discount. In addition with the App, Maruhiro App members can apply to feed the fish. This experience is limited to App members only and subject to availability.

Kawagoe Maruhiro Aquarium 2023

Apart from being able to view dozens of fish, there is a petting area where children can touch a selection of fish. For 300 yen they can either fish for crayfish or try a goldfish scoop game. In addition, they have a fossil sandpit where children can search for fossils in the sand. They get to bring one of their finds home with them.

Event: Summer holidays! Playable Aquarium in Maruhiro Kawagoe 夏休み!遊べる水族園inまるひろ川越店

Dates: July 27th to Monday August 14th 2023.

Time: From 10 am to 7 pm, except on the last day when it will close at 5 pm.

Cost: 900 yen for adults and 600 yen for children. Free for children under two years old. If you download and join the Maruhiro App, or pick up a flyer, you can get a 100 yen discount on the entry fee.

Access

Maruhiro is within walking distance of all three of central Kawagoe’s stations. The closest is Hon-Kawagoe station. There are several different parking lots for the department store. They are charged, but if you spend over a 1,000 yen you get an hour free. If you spend over 10,000 you get three hours free.  The store opens from 10 am to 7 pm seven days a week, except for the days that Maruhiro takes off. You will need to check the Maruhiro schedule for the up-to-date information as it is not a fixed schedule.
