Australia Fair at the Children’S Animal Nature Park in Saitama, most commonly called the Saitama Children’s Zoo.
The Australian animal fair is being held on Saturday May 25th and Sunday May 26th between the hours of 10.30 am and 4 pm. The event space is close to the koala’s pen.
They have a few workshops, some Australian produce on sale, special talks about the Australian animals in the zoo, a Kangaroo museum, face painting and quiz rallies.
The Saitama Children’s zoo has decent sized kangaroo, wallaby and koala pens. They have far more kangaroo and wallaby than in the Tobu zoo and in a bigger with a much better design. You can walk among the kangaroo and get close to the wallaby. It is not recommended to touch them though.
You have to pay into the zoo, but there is no additional cost for the Australian Fair.

The zoo can be accessed by a bus from Takasaka Station on the Tobu Tojo Line.
By car it is close to the Higashimatsuyama Interchange of the Kanetsu expressway. There is sufficient parking. It costs 600 yen per day.

Children: 210 yen
Their annual pass is great value costing only 1,530 yen for adult and that allows you unlimited access on the days the zoo is open.
They have discounts for groups.
You can rent buggies at the zoo. They have wheelchairs for borrowing too.
