Well I never… I had no idea… there is a capsule hotel in Kawagoe. It’s the cheapest accommodation I have ever seen in Kawagoe. It’s right beside the station too. Out the East side, just past the bus depot, right on the corner – maybe see the linked website, for actual comprehendible directions! At night it’s easily recognisable; it’s in the same building as the funky little restaurant with the outdoor make-shift tables, made from pallets, and the hanging lanterns.
DISCLAIMER: I have not been into see it, I just stumbled upon it while researching something else. I figure it needs a searchable permanent link in English text, in case someone is Googling to find something like this! It has a rest area and an ofuro (bath) too, as you can see in the picture above. If only I’d known when my brother visited, he definitely would have stayed here for a night to try it out. Next time!
It’s very reasonable too, good way to visit Kawagoe on a budget. They offer discounts for groups of over 10 booking together. 2,700 yen for adults, 2,500 yen for students, but you need to have a student id to get this price. This plan has to be booked by phone. Phone number:
,600 yen, check in after 5pm and check out by 10am.
For business travellers they have a plan that offers discounts to holders of Quo cards. I am not personally familiar with this system.
