Fujimino cherry blossom festival

Information for the annual Fujimino Cherry Blossom Festival and the cherry blossoms in Fukuoka Central Park. This year information is very thin on the ground, but the dates are available even though finer detail is not.

Fujimino Cherry Blossom Festival

This year they are not advertising it as “the 12th annual Fujimino cherry blossom festival”. They normally advertise it that way. But it is just a number and really it is not an indicator of how old the festival is. Because once upon a time, Fujimino was called Kamifukuoka City. Kamifukuoka merged with Oi town and became Fujimino City in 2005. The park where the cherry blossom trees are predate “Fujimino”, as does the festival.

The cherry blossoms are in Fukuoka Central Park on the East side of Kamifukuoka Station. But last year the festival was held at Kokone Hiroba on the west side of the station, on just one day. There is no mention of Kokone Hiroba this year and I can’t find a poster either. Presumably the food trucks will be back at Fukuoka Central Park instead, but I have not been able to confirm that. But what they have confirmed is the dates of the light up / lanterns.

Fukuoka Central Park Sakura Light up

Lanterns will be on the cherry blossom trees and lit up nightly from Friday March 22nd to Sunday April 7th 2024, all things equal. They are lit between 6 and 9 pm at night.
