The Children’s Spring Festival in Soka is very popular with locals. Even during the pandemic many families participated. There are a multitude of individual events on for children at the festival. Unfortunately, the city have opted to put nothing but the date on the official city website. Quite different to last year, when the festival had its own website! But thankfully, a bit of sleuthing turned up the poster for this year (on the venue’s website).
Soka Children’s Spring Festival
Due to the pandemic the festival was quite different in 2021 and 2022. For one, in 2022 it was on in Autumn! This year it is back on in Spring, on Saturday April 22nd, weather permitting. This will be the first time in three years eating and drinking will be allowed at the festival. Wearing a mask is optional.
The flyer says that the event starts at 10 am, but the opening ceremony is actually at 9.45 am. Moreover, they will start distributing tickets for certain events from 9.45 am. There are a wide range of events planned for the day, including crafts, canoeing, tug of war and chasing to name but a few. There will also be service vehicles on display that you can get your photo taken with. In addition, there are festival booths selling things like yakisoba and juice.
