Information for the Christmas events at Tokorozawa Sakura Town in 2021. “Christmas hikari no market” on Christmas weekend. It is called “market”, but its not a typical Christmas market. More a series of events, with some food.
Christmas at Tokorozawa Sakura Town
Tokorozawa Sakura town, Saitama’s coolest entertainment village, released information this week about their planned Christmas celebration. Starting on Christmas eve, Friday December 24th, Sakura Town will have a Christmas Hikari no market, for three days. During that time they will have a number of events:
Events on at Tokorozawa Christmas Hikari no Market
Each of the three days there are workshops where you can make your own Christmas wreath. This is a charged event. Also, over the three days you can try different food from food vans, or kitchen cars as they are called in Japanese. Each day different food vans will be on site. Furthermore, Ramen Kitchen Walker have a limited edition Christmas menu from the 22nd to 25th. In addition, Tully’s coffee also have limited edition Christmas drinks on offer until Christmas day.
On both Christmas eve and Christmas night they are giving out LED candles to the public to display at a designated site at the market. They invite you to wish upon your candle! This is a free event, but the number of candles is capped to 280 a night. First come, first served.
There are live performances scheduled for both December 25th and 26th. Music will include hand bell performances and gospel choirs. The live stage is on from 1 pm to about 6.15 pm on Saturday and from noon to about 2.15 pm on Sunday.
For each day of the three day Christmas market there will be an opportunity to meet some very special guests! Some of Japan’s most famous children characters will be at the market for a meet and greet. Such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Keroro and Hana Kappa.
In addition, there is currently winter illumination at Sakura Town. Furthermore, there are even more ongoing events at Kadokawa Culture Museum, such as Marvel Studios University of Heroes and Ukiyo-e theater from Paris. Then there is the permanent outdoor exhibition by TeamLab which runs nightly throughout the year.

Tokorozawa Sakura Town is a ten minute walk from JR Musashino Line’s Higashi Tokorozawa Station. By car, the entertainment town is about 3.6 kilometers from the Kanetsu expressway. Parking costs 200 yen per half hour. The first half hour is free.
