STEPS weekly meet up is held on Monday mornings in Kawagoe. All are welcome, however, the (only) condition is that the parent speaks fluent, native or advanced English.  For more information…

________________________________________________________________________________

We have been unable to secure a suitable free location for a playgroup in the Kawagoe area of Saitama. The next option is to look at venues that we would have to pay for. Would you attend the playgroup if you had to pay a weekly charge? How much would you be willing to pay per session? TIA

UPDATE APRIL 17TH 2013

The English play group meetings will not start this month. In the meantime, if you would like to participate in a playdate (English speaking only) in the Kawagoe area, please leave a comment. There will be a gathering next week.

At the start of the school year (April 2013), a foreign friend and I are planning to start an English playgroup for preschool children who are being raised bilingually.  Japanese families who are happy and confident to speak only English during the period of the playgroup, and for all communications about the playgroup, are also most welcome.

The playgroup will be hosted in the Kawagoe area, close to one of the three principal train stations in Kawagoe.  If you would like to be informed of when the playgroup starts and of all additional information, please contact me through this blog and WATCH THIS SPACE!

For the moment it will be geared toward preschoolers as it will be held on a weekday morning. Sorry I didn’t mention that in the blog. Maybe in the future we could try a group for older children. If we do, I will be sure to let you know. 🙂

I just stubbled upon your blog. My wife (Japanese), my 18month old son and I are heading to saitama to stay with her family from March 25th to April 19th. We’ve been many times before (this will be 2nd with my son). I would be interested to meet up if it works with our schedule.

Hi, you’re doing a great service by organising this play group 🙂 I’m a mother to a young baby, she’s 5 months old. Could we come just to hang out anyway? I’d love to meet other Moms as well 🙂

Thank you for your comment. You and your baby will be most welcome. There will be at least 3 babies younger than 1, hopefully they’ll like the music and finger play. 🙂

I am a recent transplant from Ohio, USA, and would like to join the group for playdates if you’re accepting new members. Me and my little family (Japanese husband and 1 1/2-year old daughter) live in Asaka. I’d love to visit Kawagoe! (Will try joining your FB site…)

Hi Amanda, it’s a casual drop in play group, we’d be delighted to have you. Regular attendees have children between 1 and 3 years old. ????
