1000 days to Tokyo Olympics Countdown Event | CHUO WARD
October 28, 2017 @ 12:00 - 16:30
Let the Tokyo Olympics Countdown Frenzy commence! Coming from a small country I have no experience of counting down to a big sporting event like the olympics or world cups. All I know is how they do it in Japan. And they take the stoppers out. Maybe other countries do too?
This Saturday, the 28th of October, marks 1000 days until the 2020 Tokyo Olympics start. And in anticipation and celebration the Saitama 2020 Olympic and Paralympic and 2019 Rugby World Cup Committee are running a special event in Keyaki Hiroba in Saitama Shintoshin.
Saitama in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
Four principle locations in Saitama will be used during the 2020 Olympics. They are the Tsurugashima Country Golf Club in Kawagoe for golf. The Saitama Stadium 2002 for soccer. For basketball they will use Saitama Super Arena. And finally for shooting Asaka Shooting Range which is actually spread out over three locations in Wako, Niiza and Asaka cities.
Tokyo Olympics Countdown Stage Events
The countdown event will open with a musical performance at 12.30 pm. The music will continue until 1 pm. Then there are dance performances from 1 pm.
1.30 pm sees the start of the countdown clock. It will remain there, counting down, until the olympics start. There are many special guests involved in the switch on. There are two Olympians, a Paralympian, comedian Audrey, Fitness model Aya and a number of Saitama’s officials including the mayor.
That is followed by fitness performances such as “Saitama Pride” and “Saitama Muscle Show”. NHK Saitama’s TV broadcasting company will be there and filming for the latter. From 3 pm there are live interviews with the Olympians and Paralympian. Finally, at around 3.30 pm there is a basketball performance “Revibe”.
