Forest Villa (day camp) at the Cockscomb fields
September 20 @ 10:00 – October 31 @ 16:00
Forest Villa is the latest initiative from Shinrin Park. I have to say, they are great at coming up with ways to get people to revisit the park multiple times! The Forest Villa event is essentially a day camp. You can rent a tent by the cockscomb fields between the dates of September 20th and October 31st.
Forest Villa Day Camp

“Forest Villa” offers visitors a chance to experience a glamping day camp at Shinrin Park. It sounds / looks quite like the Glamorous Hyde Park held in Inariyama Park in Sayama each year. You can book a tent from 10 am to 4 pm. It costs 3000 yen on a weekday and 5000 yen on a weekend.
With picnic included

You can also order a picnic to be prepared for you at an additional cost. The “A” plan costs 2000 yen. It comes with sandwiches, grilled chicken, salad, soup and tea. The “B” plan costs 3000 yen. It has all of plan A plus quiche, cheese and cake.
Undo Hiroba

Images to this point are from the official event web page. Images hereafter are my own.
The day camp tents are by the cockscomb field at the Undo Hiroba. The Undo Hiroba is where the large air trampoline is. There are approximately half a million cockscomb in bloom in Shinrin Park this year. They are absolutely stunning. We visited them a few years ago and then again last year (you can read more here) . The display was amazing last year, it hadn’t made such an impression on my on my first visit. But at that time it was a smaller display by the West gate, its now a huge 500,000 strong flower display nearer the central gate.
Forest Villa Access
The closest station is Shinrinkoen station on the Tobu Tojo Line. It is quite a distance from the park though, so getting a shuttle bus from the station is advised. There is also a bus that goes from the south exit of Kumagaya Station on the JR Takasaki line.
By car, parking is plentiful with car parks at each of the gates: North, South, West and Central. Parking costs 650 yen per day. At the Central exit there are a few privately owned car parks within walking distance of the entrance, that offer cheaper parking. They are priced between 100 and 500 yen according to their proximity to the park.
Booking
Booking needs to be done in advance through ‘DigiQ’. Click here to be brought to the booking page for Shinrin’s day camp event.
