Koshigaya Plum Blossom Festival

March 6, 2021 @ 10:00 March 7, 2021 @ 15:00

Koshigaya Plum Blossom – The 27th Annual Koshigaya Plum Forest Park Plum Blossom Festival is tentatively planned for Saturday March 6th and Sunday the 7th. However, due to the Coronavirus there is a chance the festival may not be able to go ahead. The festival was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Koshigaya Plum Blossom Season

Koshigaya Plum Blossom Festival

When I think of plum blossoms in Saitama Ogose, Shinrin Park and Omiya Dai Ni Park come to mind. Ogose Plum Forest holding the honour of one of Kanto’s “three great plum blossom groves”. However, in recent years, the Koshigaya Plum Blossom Park and festival have become a contender to join the ranks of the bigger and better plum blossom locations in Saitama. There are approximately 300 plum blossom trees, of 40 varieties, in the park. And each year the festival draws a large crowd.

The park and its “ume”, the Japanese for plum blossoms, gets rave reviews online. And the planned festival looks like a lot of fun and social media reports of previous years speak highly of the annual festival. Furthermore, they have music and dance performances scheduled on both days and the plum blossom mascot will be there for the occasion. In addition, you can “hanami” picnic under the plum blossoms. And it would seem this festival attracts people from both near and far.

The plum blossom festival is held in Koshigaya’s Plum Forest park. It is about a 20 minute walk from Tobu Skytree Line Kita Koshigaya Station’s west exit. For the two days of the festival there is a free shuttle bus from that station and from Aeon Sengendai Branch too.

There is a car park at the park, but it will not be in available to the public over the duration of the festival.
