Moominvalley Park Reopening | HANNO

June 4 @ 09:00 June 11 @ 21:00

Moominvalley Park will reopen for business on Thursday June 4th. Moominvalley park is a Moomin themed park within a larger Nordic living themed park called Metsa. The village within Metsa is free to enter, but you pay into Moominvalley Park (information below). Attractions within the Moomin themed park that have no extra charge include Hemulin Playground and Kokemus Exhibition Facility. Several of the other attractions have an additional charge though.

Metsa Village – the park in which it is located – reopened ahead of Moominvalley Park, on May 22nd. At the time they stated the park would only be open to Saitama residents. This time, they softly “request self-restraint regarding non-essential and urgent outings that cross prefectures.” Interpret that as you will. The popular umbrella sky event at the entrance road started on May 22nd too. There is also an umbrella sky by the Moominvalley part of Metsa Village.

There are some changes to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus. For example, only 3000 people will be able to enter a day. Tables are set up for social distancing. Hand sanitizer in the bathroom. And the hours are shortened. On weekdays the park will be open from 10 am to 5 pm and until 6 pm on weekends.

Moominvalley Park Cost

Please note there has been an increase in price. Previously, an entry ticket (entrance only, no activities included except those that are free anyway) was 1000 yen for children from four years old and up. The price is now 1,500 yen for children.  The entry ticket for for adults was 1,500 yen, it is now 2,500 yen. There are four main attractions that cost money. They range from 700 yen to 1,500 yen per attraction. Children three years old and under can enter for free.

Parking is currently free on weekdays. It costs up to1500 yen on weekends.

Metsa Village is only about 10 minutes in the car to / from Sayama Hidaka Interchange of the Ken-o expressway. The car park for Metsa and Moominvalley Park are one and the same .You walk through Metsa Village to get to the Moominvalley theme park.

By train you can access Metsa Village from either Seibu Ikebukuro Line’s Hanno Station or from JR Hachiko Line’s Higashi Hanno station. Unfortunately, both are quite a walk to the resort, taking at least 35 minutes on foot. However, you can take a bus from both on weekends and from Hanno station on weekdays. The village is about a 12 minute walk from the bus stop. Please note there maybe changes to the train and buses due to the coronavirus outbreak.
