Nagatoro Autumn Leaves Festival
November 1, 2019 - November 30, 2019Free
The Nagatoro Valley Autumn Leaves Festival is a month long autumn leaf / foliage / fall color viewing period. It is celebrated annually in November.
Stretching 6 kilometers along the Ara river from Iwadatami, resplendent fall colours decorate the Nagatoro Valley. Trees include Momiji, Kunugi and Oak. Taking the famous Kudari line down the river is a great way to take in the view.
Other areas in Nagatoro known for their autumn leaves include:
- Tsuki no Ishi Momiji Park. This park lights up the autumn leaves in the evening. For 2019 the dates are from November 1st to November 24th.
- Hodosan Shrine, which is just 10 to 15 minutes on foot from Nagatoro station. The shrine also has night light up.
- Saitama Museum of Natural History, also has night light up and also only 10 minutes from the station.

The valley area, Hodosan shrine and area around the museum are free to roam, but Tsukino Ishi Momiji park charges in for the peak period of the autumn festival. Its 200 yen per person.
The area’s starting point is just 5 minutes on foot from the Chichibu Railway Nagatoro Station.
By car, it is 3.2 kilometers from the Minano Nagatoro Interchange of the relatively new Minano Yorii bypass.
