FEB 27 UPDATE (Coronavirus) Plum Blossom Festival Omiya Dai Ni Park

Omiya Plum Blossoms – The 36th annual plum blossom festival will be held in Omiya Dai Ni Park from Saturday the 22rd of February to bank holiday Monday the 16th of March from 10 am to 5 pm. There are approximately 500 trees of 40 different varieties.
February 21st: As of 14:30 on February 21st 2020, this event is still planned to go ahead as scheduled. Please note that several large events in Saitama have been cancelled due to Coronavirus concerns.
February 27th: Further to the latest developments in the Coronavirus outbreak, several changes have been made to the 2020 Plum Blossom Festival in Omiya Dai Ni Park. You can still visit and view the plum blossoms in the park, but most of the scheduled events within the festival have been cancelled:
Cancelled events of the Omiya Dai Ni Plum Blossom Festival
- All guided tours have been cancelled. They were scheduled for Friday February 28th, Sunday March 8th.
- The tea ceremony events scheduled for Saturday March 7th and Sunday March 8th have also been cancelled.
- The plum blossom festival concerts scheduled for Saturday February 29th and Sunday March 1st have been cancelled.
- The gallery events scheduled for between March 10th and March 15th have been cancelled.
- Crafts scheduled for Sunday March 1st have been cancelled.
- The petting zoo scheduled for Sunday March 8th has been cancelled.
Currently the flea markets are still planning to go ahead, but there maybe changes to the proposed dates.

Omiya Plum Blossoms Access
Omiya Dai Ni park is an extension of the better known Omiya Park. Both are accessed from Omiyakoen station. There is parking at the Dai Ni park.

Another famous plum blossom event in Saitama takes place in Ogose annually. That event has a mini steam locomotive for children on the weekends:
Shinrin Park is not as well known for plum blossoms, but the plum blossom grove there is very nice. The park itself has a huge amount of things for families to enjoy.
