Poppies in the sky! Acclaimed Poppy Festival | CHICHIBU
May 19 @ 09:00 - June 8 @ 16:30￥300
Chichibu Poppy Festival – For me Chichibu is synonymous with not only with great beauty, but great events too. The poppy festival in Chichibu is just one of many famous and acclaimed events held annually in Chichibu. And people navigate the crowded mountain roads to witness the spectacular scene of (approximately!) 15 million red poppies across five hectares in an area known as Tenku no Poppy (天空のポピー) or “Poppies in the Sky”.
The flowers typically bloom mid May to early June annually. The festival is from May 19th to June 8th 2018. The poppies are in the Saitama prefectural farm called Chichibu kogen farm which costs 300 yen per adult to enter. It is free for children to enter. There is no additional cost for viewing the poppies. The parking lot of the farm is open from 9 am to 5 pm with last entry at 4.30 pm during the poppy festival season. It is free to use.

Chichibu Poppy Festival Access
About 21 kilometers from the Hanazono exit of the Kanetsu expressway. 「天空のポピー」(tenku no popi-)「秩父高原牧場」(chichibu kogen bokujyo)「彩の国ふれあい牧場」(sainokuni fureai bokujyo) or the phone number 0494-65-0311 in the car navi should bring up the location.
By public transport you can take a shuttle bus from Chichibu Testuso’s Minano station to the poppy festival on weekends only. It takes about 25 minutes. The bus comes every 15 to 30 minutes and is free. There is also a Seibu bus that goes every day, but it runs very infrequently – once every one to two hours with the last bus at 6 pm.
