CANCELLED Sakado Yosakoi 2020
October 10 @ 08:00 - October 11 @ 17:00Free
Sakado Yosakoi 2020 – For the second year in a row, the Sakado Yosakoi festival has been cancelled. Last year it was due to a typhoon, this year (2020) it is due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The decision was made quite early to cancel the event with confirmation coming through in mid May. The next Sakado Yosakoi will hopefully be in October 2021.
A total of 2300 people in 53 teams will compete in this year’s Autumn Sakado Yosakoi, celebrated on two days in late October. This year the dates are October 12th and 13th 2019. The dancing teams will parade from Sakado station to Kita-Sakado station, both of which are on the Tobu Tojo Line. The main stage is at Sakado’s Bunka Hall, in the car park.
Apart from the parade and stage events, there are some festival booths which of course include festival food. Last year that included gourmet from the Tohoku region, but full details for 2019 have not yet been released (May 22 2019).
Access Sakado Yosakoi
Just an hour from Shibuya station and only 43 minutes from Ikebukuro Station, Sakado Yosakoi can be accessed on the Tobu Tojo line. The nearest stations are Kita Sakado and Sakado stations. They are a 10 and 15 minute walk respectfully, from the main stage.
Other things to do in Sakado:
Try some 3D latte art at Cafe Chocotea.
Enjoy a free Meiji Chocolate Factory tour.
