Try on traditional samurai armor at history museum | OMIYA

Event: Experience dressing in traditional samurai armor Yoroi

For: Children of school age (elementary through High school)

Museum Hours: 9 am to 4.30 pm

On Saturday February 16th children can try on real Yoroi Japanese armor at the Saitama Prefectural Museum of History and Folklore in Omiya. It is a popular event that is only run a few times a year and as such it is vital that you book in advance if you wish to try on the armour.

There are three different Yoroi on display and available for trying on. Two are for children of high school age, numbers ① and ② in the flyer below. And one is for children of junior high school and elementary school age, number ③ in the flyer below. You can already book a place for this event by dialing the number at the bottom of the top flyer: 048-645-8171.

Samurai Armor Event Access

The Saitama Prefectural Museum of History and Folklore is on the edge of Omiya park beside the Omiya Japanese archery range. It is accessible by the Tobu Noda Line and Tohoku Main Line. The nearest station on the Tobu Noda Line is “Omiya-koen” and on the Tohoku line “Kita Omiya” station.

There is parking for about 12 cars that is free, but it is only for use by patrons of the museum. The parking is open from 8.50 am to 7 pm.
