Art Festa and Sashiogi Festival

Sashiogi festival and the Sashiogi Art Festa are part of the “Omiya Summer Festivals”. They are two festivals that run back to back on the same day. They mark the end of the summer festivals each year. This year they will be held on Saturday August 24th from 9.30 am to 9 pm.
The Art Festa is held from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm. Subsequently, the 49th annual Sashiogi festival starts from 6.30 pm and runs until around 9 pm. During the latter, there is Bon Odori or bon festival dance. This event will be cancelled if there is rain. As will most of the evening and night time scheduled events. Please check the official website for any last minute notifications.
The Art Festa is predominantly organised by the local schools. There are three different sites for the daytime event: the Sashiogi Elementary School’s sports hall, the flood catch fields of Takinuma river (opposite the elementary school) and the Sashiogi Community Hall.
Access Sashiogi festival and art festa
The festival can be accessed from Saikyo Line and Kawagoe Line Sashiogi and Nishi Omiya stations. It is about a 15 minute walk from both.
