Sayama Ski Resort renewal open in 2020

November 12, 2020 @ 10:00 21:00

Sayama Ski Resort in 2019

The Sayama Ski Resort generally have their season opening event on the last Friday of October. But in 2019 they didn’t open because they were doing renovations. Those renovations are finally finished and the ski resort will open for business in 2020 / 2021. However, they are opening at the later date of November 12th this year. However, you can now ski in this conveniently located ski resort near Tokyo right up until April 11th.

Where can I go skiing in Saitama?

Saitama does not have any natural ski slopes. The only place you can currently ski indoors is the Sayama Ski Resort by Seibu, in Tokorozawa. Its location makes it the closest place to Tokyo that you can ski, but it is an artificial ski slope. But as it is an artificial slope you can ski as early as the end of October in a normal year, November in 2020.

Sayama Ski Resort Renewal Open

Sayama Ski Resort

Quite a bit has changed in the last year. For example, they now have a snow escalator and a dedicated children’s area. And this year on account of the Coronavirus you will be required to have your temperature took before you can enter the slopes area.

The resort used to open at 9 am for the season opening event, but looks like that has changed to 10 am. They actually haven’t released any informaiton about the opening event, just a confirmation on the skiing period for the 2020 / 2021 season. If it follows the pattern of previous years – before the renewal – there is usually a live performance from 11 am to about 11.40 am. On the morning of the event, the slopes themselves are generally not open to the public due to the opening ceremony and events. They normally open the slopes from midday.

Sayama Ski Resort Hours

For the month of October the Sayama Ski Resort used to open from 10 am to 6 pm, but this year the slopes will not be open in October. They will open from November 12th to April 11th. On weekends they will have their popular night skiing for just 1800 yen between the hours of 6 pm and 9 pm. And there is actually an “all night” ticket that allows you ski between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am for just 3700 yen.

Sayama Ski Resort Costs

They have many different packages that cost varying amounts, but by and large it costs about 4,200 yen for an adult to ski. However, children of primary school age and younger used to be free in, but now it will cost 500 yen per child for non-members. Every Wednesday is Ladies Day and skiing only costs 2500 yen.

Access

The ski resort is a three minute walk from the Leo Liner Yamaguchi Line Seibu Kyūjōmae station. By car the ski resort is ten kilometers from the Iruma Interchange of the Ken-o expressway.
