Sports Festival and Umaimon Cup | KUMAGAYA
May 26 @ 10:00 - 15:00Free
Kumagaya Sports Festival and Umaimon Cup
With the Rugby World Cup and 2020 olympics on the horizon, Saitama has upped its game and introduced a number of new sports festivals over the last couple of years. One such relatively new sports festivals is that of the Kumagaya Sports Culture park sports festival which has been held in one form or other for the last couple of years.
Kumagaya Sports Festival
Last year the event was heavily publicized and there was lots of information online, but this year it is all about the food part of the festival “the Umaimon cup”. Both festivals are held in the Kumagaya Sports Culture Park. Update May 23rd: they finally released information about Sunday’s sports festival and the flyer (top image) for 2019.
Kumagaya Sports Culture Park is one of the host stadiums of the 2019 world cup rugby games and hence they have a lot of rugby related events. This year there will be an emphasis on rugby at the festival again. But they will also have some olympic and paraolympic related events.
There is also music and dance performances scheduled for the day, and there will be some mascots. And the very popular Umaimon Cup. The Umaimon Cup basically showcases some of Kumagaya’s “best” food as well as other gourmet. Essentially it is a food festival.
