September 19, 2020 @ 09:30 November 14, 2020 @ 17:00

sweet potato digging

Musashi no Mura Family Land in the Green’s annual sweet potato digging farm opened on September 19th. It will stay open for as long as there are sweet potato to dig! That’s normally until around the end of October or early to mid November. In September you can also pick egg plant, green peppers, corn and okra. You can pick chestnuts on the weekends too. From the end of October you can dig for carrots, daikon, naganegi and even peanuts.

Musashi no Mura Family Land in the Green – hereafter Musashi no Mura – is a family friendly amusement park in Kazo City in Saitama. It is easily accessible from Tokyo by car as it is a short drive from the Kazo Interchange of the Tohoku expressway. It is also relatively convenient by public transport as there is a free shuttle bus (from March to November) that goes from the south exit of Kazo station on the Tobu Isesaki line.

Sweet Potato Digging Information

Family kan at musashi no mura where you can inquire about sweet potato picking

The sweet potato fields are in the Waku Waku Farm within the Musashino Mura amusement park. It is at the back of the farm past the central “Family Kan”. The family kan is where you can register to pick / dig fruit and vegetables in the picking farm. (You can also ask at the gate.) Please do check on the official site that the farm is open on the day you want to go. They are generally open everyday of the picking season, but as it is typhoon season and with the pandemic it is best to check. You can do that here (click).

Cost

Digging is not covered by a ticket to Musashino Mura Family land on the green amusement park. You have to pay extra to play in this seasonal attraction. Entrance to the amusement park is 1,200 yen for adults and 650 yen for children three years old or over. Rides cost extra. One ride costs 300 yen on average. You can get a free pass, that covers most rides in the amusement park. It costs 2,900 yen for an adult and 2,300 yen for a child.
