Tokorozawa Sakura Town, the Cool Japan Forest Project

July 17

Sakura Town Shin Tokorozawa is part of the Cool Japan Forest Project, an initiative between Kadokawa Corporation and Tokorozawa city.

Kadokawa Corporation (publishers) broke the news a couple of years ago about the major development “Sakura Town” in Shin Tokorozawa. All went quiet until Autumn last year and I for one had forgotten all about it. But as the date approaches the exciting new leisure complex is dominating the Saitama news. It is on schedule for the proposed opening date of Friday July 17th 2020.

The development will include shops, restaurants, a museum, a factory, offices, a public open space, event space, a shrine and even a hotel. An anime hotel at that.  The museum, called Kadokawa Musashino Museum, combines a library, art gallery and science museum. It looks absolutely stunning;

The museum is called Kadokawa Musashino after the name of the publishers who are funding the project “Kadokawa” and the name of the geographical area “Musashino”. The shrine is a modern type shrine with a name that translates into “Cool Japan” in English! The hotel is an anime themed hotel. That will open later than the rest of the complex.
