Tsurugashima Cherry Blossom Festival in 2020

March 21 - April 5

Tsurugashima Cherry blossom festival

The 36th annual Tsurugashima Cherry Blossom Festival will be held from Saturday March 21st to Sunday April 5th. The festival is held at the Tsurugashima Sports Park. The main weekend, when they have events on, is Saturday April 4th and Sunday April 5th. For that weekend they have food and festival stalls and live music performances between 10 am and 4 pm.

Apart from that weekend the only way they mark the “festival” is with festival lanterns around the park, particularly around the lake which is the famous cherry blossom scene of Tsurugashima. They also light up the cherry blossoms by night. They will be lit up from 6 pm to 9 pm for the 2020 cherry blossom season.

Approximately 12,000 people come to see the cherry blossoms in Tsurugashima each year. There is parking for 250 cars in the free car park in the park, but for the weekend of the main events of the festival they restrict the parking in the park. Public toilets available.

The park doesn’t have a lot in it for general use, but it has good sporting facilities. There is a small play area for kids and if the weather is fine enough you can also play in the nice splash pond.
