One of two of Urawa’s festivals on Sunday July 21st.  It is also one of many festivals that happens along the Nakasendo trail, an historic route that linked Kyoto to Edo. The other festival is the Yosakoi festival at Minami Urawa Station.

A “mikoshi” is a portable shrine, carried by many people who have trained for many weeks to carry it in tandem. This festival also has a children’s mikoshi. The mikoshi procession starts at 14.30 near Urawa station.
