Tentative: Wading pool Saitama Children’s Zoo in 2021
May 1, 2021 @ 09:30 – September 5, 2021 @ 17:00

Wading pool Saitama Children’s Zoo – It is hard to believe it is already the time of year for wading pools and rivers. Las year, things were quite different with so much still unknown about the Coronavirus. Normally, the wading / splash pool in the Children’s Zoo opens for the season during Golden Week. But in 2020, on account of the Coronavirus, not only was the wading pool not accessible: the whole zoo was closed. It remains to be seen how things will pan out for 2021.
However, its currently not looking good. It is unlikely that they will open the splash pool in 2021 either. At the moment, you need to book in advance to visit the zoo on weekends and public holidays. That will continue until May 9th 2021. Also, please note the zoo’s entrance price is going up from June 1st.
What is the official name of the Saitama Children’s zoo?
Children’s Animal Nature Park Saitama
When does the Saitama Children’s Zoo water play area open?
The Saitama Children’s Zoo water play area is usually open from Golden Week until early October annually. However, in 2020, due to the novel Coronavirus the zoo itself is closed until at least May 6th and possibly beyond. As such the wading pool is also closed off.

Wading Pool Saitama Children’s Zoo 2021 Dates
If things go ahead like before Coronavirus, the pools should be open from the first Saturday in Golden week. You can play in the Saitama Children’s zoo splash pool, weather permitting, until roughly the end of September. The pool is available on the days the zoo is open which is Tuesday to Sunday. The end date has not yet been set, but it is typically the end of September or first week in October.

There is also a wading river near the splash pool that has water in it all year round. It is about 20 centimetres high, but it is not cleaned like the pool is so is only suited to wading through rather than playing in. There are some stepping stones in the river which are both fun and a source of danger for smaller children!

Children in nappies (diapers) are asked not to use the wading pool. However, the main problem is the diapers themselves, so if you enter without them (and time the toilet) smaller children can also use the pool. They ask that you do not wear flip flops or any type of shoes into the wading pool.
(It is closed on Mondays when the zoo is also closed).
