Winter Illumination @ Tobu Hybrid Park | MIYASHIRO
November 21 @ 17:00 – February 14 @ 20:00
Tobu Zoo Illumination – Every year Tobu Zoo puts on a fantastic night illumination show for the winter months. This year, despite the coronavirus, will be the same. However, the illumination will be turned on later than normal in November. (Its normally the last week in October).
However, for the month of November – with the exception of Saitama Citizen’s Day – (and in an ‘usual’ year October too) the illumination is only switched on at the weekends. Likewise, from January 4th until the display ends, you can only see it on the weekends and public holiday. The display is switched on every day in December.
Tobu Zoo illumination
The park uses smoke, light and music to add to the ambiance of the night illumination. The illumination involves a LED vision performance laser and projection mapping show, that is the largest of its kind in the Kanto area. (Kanto is the area comprising Tokyo and the surrounding six prefectures of Saitama, Gunma, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Kanagawa and Chiba). It promises to be a mind blowing display.
Over 3,000,000 lights are used, to create an illuminated flower garden in Heartful Garden, which is only a couple of years old. The area covers 8,000 meter squared. They still haven’t released the precise information for 2020 / 2021. But last year kids could enjoy animals made out of flowers and/or light, snowmen and winter scenes. Couples could walk in a tunnel of love, “Love Lock”, built especially for the occasion, and take in the romantic atmosphere of the park lit up at night. In 2018 – 19 and 2019 – 20 they also introduced a new area representing the flowers of the four seasons.
Tobu Zoo Illumination Hours and Cost
It opens 5 pm to 8 pm November 21st, 2020 . Usually on December 23rd, 24th and 25th the closing hour is extended until 9 pm. The 2020 / 2021 cost is not yet available.
