CANCELLED Yono Summer Festival

July 11 @ 08:00 - July 12 @ 17:00

Yono summer festival

Yono is an area within Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture. Each area within Saitama City has their own summer festival. And often there own fireworks too. The Yono Summer Festival (Yono Natsu Matsuri) is normally on the second weekend of July. This year, 2020, the festival – along with dozens of other festivals in Saitama city – has been cancelled in attempt to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

The Saitama Tourism and International Relations Bureau (STIB) announced the cancellation in the middle of May.

Yono Summer Festival 2019

The 2019 summer festival was on Saturday July 13th and Sunday July 14th. It started at 4 pm and goes to 9.30 pm each day.

Portable shrines are carried around and festival stalls are available. It attracts mainly locals, but as it is close to a station it is easy to access and commutable from Tokyo:

The festival is held close to Saikyo LIne JR Yono Hon Machi Station. It is only a five minute walk from the festival.

More information on the Saitama Tourism and International Relations Bureau official website (Japanese language only).

For more summer events – the majority of which have been cancelled – please see the main events calendar.

Yono is famous for its rose garden and annual rose festival. More information here.
