Each year in July Fukaya have two festivals: the Tanabata Festival in early July and the Fukaya Festival at the end of July. There is also a smaller festival, near Okabe station, “Fureai Carnival” in the middle of July. The Fukaya Festival is held on the last Saturday of July annually, around the North exit of Fukaya Station.

The festival was also on in 2022, but it was a festival lite and it was only on in the late afternoon. In 2023 it will be on from morning to night, just like before the pandemic.

Fukaya Festival 2023

The city’s festival floats are paraded on this one day summer festival in Fukaya. The floats are “competing” with each other, a festival float off! In addition, there is traditional dance performances and festival stalls. The stalls sell traditional festival food and drink, as well as offer some festival games, for a price!

In 2022 there was no space to consume food bought at the festival. They asked that you take it home. In addition, there was no alcohol served at the festival in 2022. However, in 2023 things are back to “normal”. As with all festivals, no drones are allowed at the Fukaya Festival.
