Last year, Fukaya had most of their summer festivals, except for the Fukaya Fireworks. This year, they are back for the first time in four years. However, they are on in September rather than the usual August. Before the pandemic these fireworks were always on the first Sunday in August.
Fukaya Fireworks
This is the 29th annual occurrence of these fireworks. Each year approximately 4000 fireworks are launched at the display. Fireworks include starmine and shakudama – the large type that you can’t always see in built up areas, because these fireworks need a lot of air space! There is usually a “festival stall village”, with about 20 to 30 festival stalls, where you can pick up some festival food and drink.
>>There are also fireworks, X cosmos flowers, in October in Fukaya.<<

The firework display is about a seven minute walk from Takekawa Station on the Chichibu Tetsudo line. Currently, information is a bit thin on the ground for 2023, but I know from previous years that there are usually three different parking lots. Two of them charge a fee and the third is free. If you are coming by car, the venue is about a ten minute drive from the Hanazono Interchange of the Kanetsu expressway. It is advised to arrive early if you are coming by car as some of the roads are closed off after 5 pm.
