Hidaka Citizen's festival and fireworks

Hidaka City invites citizens to ‘create a new beginning together’ at the 32nd annual Hidaka festival this year. The statement is in recognition of how much the pandemic influenced all our lives and how we lived without festivals, fireworks or events for three years. In a bid to rekindle the community and restore the city’s energy and vibrancy, this year they will launch even more fireworks than normal on the first night of the two day citizen’s festival.

Hidaka Festival and Fireworks

The Hidaka Citizen Festival is held annually in Autumn. It is a local type festival with a mikoshi, stage events, traditional performances, inflated play area, mini SL and a market. In addition, on the first night they have a fireworks display. They initially hoped to launch 3000 fireworks, but thanks to the overwhelming support of many they will be launching 5000 fireworks on the first night. If there is bad weather on the Saturday night, they will postpone them until Sunday night. The festival is on the grounds of Hidaka Arena (also called the Bunka Taiikukan), which is near to the Hidaka City Hall.
