For the third year in a row, the Higashimatsuyama Fireworks have been cancelled on account of the pandemic. There will be no firework displays in Higashimatsuyama city in 2022. Official notification
Higashimatsuyama Fireworks 2020
The 2020 Higashimatsuyama fireworks have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus Outbreak. The 2020 Higashimatsuyama summer festival has also been cancelled. Official notification of cancellation from the Higashimatsuyama Tourism Website.
2019 Information
The 20th annual Higashimatsuyama Fireworks will be held in Tokigawa Riverside Park (Takasaka) on Saturday August 24th from 7 pm to 9 pm.
Approximately 60,000 people come to enjoy the firework display held close to Peony Walk annually in the Takasaka area of Higashimatsuyama. Approximately 5000 fireworks are launched including Hyakudama and Starmines. There are also “message” fireworks. The display is set to music.
The event will be cancelled if there is heavy rain, but will go ahead in the instance of light rain. Please do check with the official event webpage on the Higashimatsuyama Tourism website (also in the grey details box below) for any weather related updates.
Access Higashimatsuyama Fireworks
Address: 700-1 Takasaka, Higashimatsuyama-shi, Saitama
The fireworks are an approximate 15 minute walk from the Takasaka station on the Tobu Tojo Line. They are launced from the Tokigawa Riverside Park with viewing on the embankment.
You can see the fireworks from several locations in the area including the aforementioned Peony Walk which has free parking.
