Tulips at the Hana no Oasis during tulip festival

Information for the tulip festival and the flowers that bloom in April at the flower oasis, “Hana no Oasis”, in Konosu. As of March 25th the flowers still had not flowered, but after the warm weather this past weekend, I’m pretty sure they’ll have started flowering in time for the tulip festival this weekend.

Konosu Tulip Festival 2024

The Konosu tulip festival is a popular two day event each year in April. In 2024 it will be on Saturday April 6th and Sunday April 7th, from 9 am to 3 pm, weather permitting, at ‘Hana no Oasis’. You will find more information about Hana no Oasis in the next section. There are stage events on both days of the festival and there several other events. For example, you can experience planting tulips or digging bulbs. However, the tulip related events have a charge. There are free experiences too, such as a petting zoo, but that is on the Saturday only.

Hana no Oasis, Konosu

Spring flowers at Hana no Oasis

Hana no Oasis (or Flower Oasis) is a community garden. It is open to the public all the time, not just when the festival is on. According to the prefecture it is the birthplace of flower production in Konosu City. It is located in a rural area of Konosu amid dozens of paddy fields. The garden is landscaped by volunteers through the seasons. The tulips are the highlight of spring and the sunflowers the highlight of Autumn. The field isn’t particularly large, but it is very picturesque and draws thousands of admirers in each season. There is no entry fee into the Hana no Oasis. Its actually just a large field.

In Spring the main attraction of the garden is tulips. It is the joint third most popular place in Saitama Prefecture to admire tulips, along with Fukaya Green Park. Both Hana no Oasis and Fukaya Green Park are placed after Omiya Hana no Oka and Shinrin Park.

Supposedly there are approximately 40,000 tulips in the garden. Almost double what is at Omiya Hana no Oka. However, having visited both, it certainly didn’t seem like there were more tulips at Hana no Oasis. Quite the opposite actually.
