Lalaport Shinmisato have several winter events on this year. First up, their illumination, which starts as early as November 3rd. Following that they will have various events each weekend, but no Santa Claus visit that I can find. Plus they don’t really have Christmas events in the traditional sense. They will have a ‘winter party’ which has been described as a Scandinavian Christmas market, but its more like a food market. Moreover, their main Christmas and New Year celebrations this year have more a contemporary than traditional feel with a ‘Hot Japan’ collaboration with J01. But they will also have some traditional New Year events on January 1st.

Misato Winter Park
Misato Winter Park is described as a North Pole Christmas Market by Walkerplus magazine, but its really more a food market with a few kitchen cars selling hot food. It will be on from Christmas Eve, Saturday December 24th to Friday December 30th 2022. If you are looking for a more traditional Christmas market in Saitama, check out these suggestions here.

Hot Japan with J01
The first round of the Hot Japan collaboration is from Monday November 28th to Christmas. The second round for the New Year, starts on Friday January 6th. Honestly, I have no idea who J01 are! Presumably a boy band? For the collab, Lalaport Shinmisato will have J01 decorations at the mall – they look like cardboard cut outs! Other than that, most of the stuff is on an App. Like getting a personal message (from December 26th) from a member of J01 or using VR to take a photo with a member of J01.
In Lalaport Shinmisato, the key areas are in front of Goodcrew on the 2nd floor of the South Mall and in front of Uniqlo on the second floor of the North Mall. For the record, Lalaport Fujimi is also running the collaboration event. In addition, from January 6th to 31st, certain restaurants will be giving patrons a J01 coaster keepsake. In Shinmisato quite a few of the chain restaurants are participating, such as KFC, McDonalds, St Marc, Tully’s on the first floor. Furthermore, a lot of the restaurants on the second floor are participating too. You can see where here.

Access
If at all possible, it is recommended to come by public transport. The roads get very congested around the mall. The quickest we ever got from the Misato Interchange to the mall was 20 minutes, but we were stuck in traffic for one hour once – the distance is only 3.4 kilometers! We’d have been quicker walking! The mall is located right beside Shin Misato station (written as Shim-Misato on Google Maps!)
