Little planet

A new digital and creative play space for children, Little Planet, is opening in the Lalaport in Shinmisato on July 11th 2018. Update February 2023: it closed permanently on January 23rd 2023. And the ever popular, and one of the oldest children’s play areas in Saitama Prefecture, Kids Castle (also in Misato) will close permanently on February 26th 2023.

Little Planet or Litpla for short

The Little Planet or Litpla play centers use virtual reality and mapping technology. The Lalaport Shinmisato official website refers to it as a “digital theme park”.

Play areas include “sand party” which is kinetic sand with light projection, “spray painting” without ink, and “paper rikishi” which they explain as a digital paper sumo! All in all, the facility sounds a lot like Team Lab Islands in Lalaport in Fujimi.

The first Little Planet opened just last year in Lalaport in Tachikawa.  And there is currently a LitPla “Caravan”, pop up shop, in Aeon in Aichi prefecture. There is also two other branches opening soon; one in Tokyo and one in Hawaii!

Update in 2022: it is currently recommended that you buy a ticket in advance. In order to do that you need to create a membership account online.
