Information for the annual Harvest in the Moomin theme park at Metsa, Hanno, Saitama. One of the highlights of this event is their Balloon Sky of Apples. Last year, it was at the newly opened Lake Terrace, but this year, it is back at the entrance area. This year they have also grown Kochia flowers in the area too, making it even more picture perfect. They will also light up the path to the lighthouse to evoke early autumn foliage. They will also have mini fireworks on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during the “Harvest” period.
Moominvalley Park Harvest 2026
The Harvest event at Moominvalley Park was started during the pandemic, in the autumn of 2020. I donned it a balloon sky, as the Finnish theme park has great success in bringing people into the park to see their sky decorations. The Umbrella sky at Metsa needs little introduction as the largest umbrella sky in Japan, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The Balloon Sky is perhaps not as well known, but it is picturesque too with 90cm apple-themed balloon decorations. This year they have also grown kochia plants, which are bound to make the scene even more photogenic. “Harvest”, the Balloon Sky starts this Saturday, September 12th, and is on until Sunday October 25th, 2026.
During the period of Harvest the theme park has autumn decorations, including pumpkins, around the park. On the weekends and public holidays they will have short firework displays. There is also illumination on the path to the lighthouse. In addition, there is also the spacious 320㎡ lakeside terrace inspired by Snufkin’s father, ヨクサル, offering a slow, relaxing autumn experience with cushions and nature sounds. Also, during the period of the event there are limited edition “harvest” goods on sale. In Kokemus they will also have autumn theme. At the theater they will have a limited-time interactive show featuring Moominvalley characters appearing on a rotating schedule. Snufkin’s father, Joxter, joins the park as a new meetable character.

Event: Moominvalley Park Harvest 2026 ムーミンバレーパークハーベスト
Dates: from Saturday September 12th to Sunday October 25th, 2026. Fireworks on weekends and public holidays during the period.
Time: 10 am until 5 pm on weekdays. They will open late on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Generally until 7 pm, but for four days of Silver week (9/19 – 22) they will open until 8 pm.
Cost: The event itself is “free”, but you do have to pay into the Moominvalley Park area. Since 2025 it now costs 4300 yen for an adult and 1300 yen for children. However, if you buy your tickets online in advance you can get the adult ticket for 3900 and the child’s ticket for 1000 yen. You can get a night pass online, on the dates the fireworks are on, that costs 2300 yen. You can enter the park from 4 pm on that pass.

Moominvalley Park is only about 10 minutes by car from the Sayama Hidaka Interchange of the Keno expressway. Unfortunately since April 1st 2023 you now have to pay for parking on weekdays again (it was free during the pandemic). It costs 1000 yen on weekdays, but the first two hours are free. On the weekend the price has actually come down. It costs 1500 yen for parking on a Saturday or Sunday, there are no free hours. A bus goes to Metsa (within which Moominvalley park is located) goes from Seibu Ikebukuro Line’s Hanno Station.
