On September 3rd, I updated the post about the early blooming spider lilies in Yoshimi to say that the red section were a write off this year, but that there was ‘hope for the colored section’. Thankfully, the early blooming section did indeed end up blooming beautifully, just this week. These photos are from this morning. They are late to bloom by recent years averages. If the early blooming spider lilies are only blooming now, we will have to wait a while yet for the regular ones. Red spider lilies need temperatures of about 25 degrees to thrive and we are still, in the middle of September, getting temperatures in the mid thirties in these parts of Saitama.
